Scan Books to PDF with Your Phone

HonScan is a free web app that turns your phone into a book scanner. Open it in your browser, hold your phone over a book, and it captures each spread automatically. No dedicated scanner, no app install, no account — just a browser and your camera.

What you can do

• 🎥 Auto-capture (two-page spread) — hold the camera over the book; it shoots automatically when the page stops moving.
• 📄 PDF export — save the scanned pages as a plain image PDF.
• 🔍 Text PDF (OCR) — export a searchable PDF with selectable, copyable text underneath the page image.
• 📝 Text extraction — pull out just the recognised text to copy or download as .txt.

How it works

1. Start capturing — open the app and press "Auto-capture". A book is created for you and you can name it afterwards.
2. Photograph the pages — open the book and capture page after page without stopping.
3. Fix skew and cropping — after capturing, adjust the tilt and margins of any page that needs it.
4. Check the page order — review and rearrange the pages in the thumbnail list.
5. Export as PDF — turn on OCR if you want a searchable PDF, then save.
